Qatar's ambassador to Algeria Abdulaziz Ali al-Naama has stressed that the visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to Algeria to attend the opening ceremony of the 19th Mediterranean Games in Oran, reflects the strength of the bond between the two countries.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the ambassador underlined that His Highness the Amir's attendance reflects the highest indication of appreciation for Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, as well as the importance His Highness the Amir attaches to Algeria.
Al-Naama said that the Qatari-Algerian relations has witnessing continuous development and steady growth since the visit of His Highness the Amir to Algeria in February 2020.
The relationship between the two countries increased in strength with the visit of President Tebboune in February this year, which culminated in the signing of memorandums of understanding and important co-operation agreements.
Al-Naama said the two sides are also in the process of signing other agreements that will pave the way for a deep strategic partnership.
The ambassador added that organising the Mediterranean Games is a practical interpretation of Algeria's belief in rapprochement and brotherhood among the people of the world, and an affirmation that it is present and assertive in international forums, not only by participating but also by organising global sports, political and economic events.
In conclusion, al-Naama said that the success of such tournaments and events held in the Arab world is a success for all.
