The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has taken action against an environmental violator for running over mangroves and tampering with the coast.
The patrols of the Land Protection Unit at the ministry responded to a citizen’s report, and “immediately worked to detect an environmental violation represented in encroaching on the plant and marine environment in the comfortable area where the violator ran over the mangrove plant and tampered with the coast,” MoECC said in a series of tweets.
All legal measures have been taken against the culprit and his car has been seized, the ministry said, adding that the rest of the procedures are being completed with the security authorities.
MoECC thanked and appreciated the citizen who reported the violation for his concern and interest in the environment.
“The ministry urges the public to continue their good interaction in reporting violations.”
MoECC has urged to report all environmental violations by calling the unified call center, phone number 184, around the clock, seven days a week.
