The Special Committee for the Study of 'Aspects Associated with Marriage' in the Shura Council, held its first meeting on Sunday, in the presence of HE the Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti.
At the beginning of the meeting, HE Ali bin Shabib Al Attiyah was elected Chairman of the Committee.
During the meeting, the special committee discussed the issue of the negative aspects associated with marriage related to a number of behaviors, including exaggerating the costs of wedding parties and the attendant disbursement of large sums, which constitutes a burden on the family and causes the emergence of many societal problems.
After extensive discussions, the committee decided to complete the study of the subject at its next meeting and to coordinate with several government agencies and civil society competent institutions.
The Shura Council had decided in its session held last Monday to form a special committee to study the issue, set controls and proposals to avoid and limit these aspects, and submit its report on it to the Council.
